The grit of a nail file indicates how coarse its surface is. The lower the grit number, the coarser the surface of the file.
80 grit: Used for removing acrylic, gel and acrygel. (Caution: if the material is thin, it is preferable to use a finer 100/100 grit file.)
100 grit: Used for shaping artificial nails.
180 grit: Used for shaping the natural nail and for preparing the natural nail before acrylic or gel application.
240 grit: Used for shaping the natural nail and for preparing the natural nail before acrylic or gel application. Suitable for more sensitive nails.
320 to 600 grit: Files/buffers in this grit range are used for smoothing and polishing.
